I sprained my ankle when I was eight and the first thing my mom and aunts did was bring me in and sat me on the couch and went to the kitchen.
Then they came out with a bowl of yellow stuff that they spread over my swollen ankle and then wrapped and told me to go to sleep. Pretty normal right?
Being the obedient little girl I was, I obliged, fighting through the tears and somehow went to sleep.
In the morning I woke up to a less swollen ankle and a dry yellow mess under the wrapped ankle. My aunts and mother gathered around and saw each congratulated their efforts in healing my ankle with their magical home remedy, which was egg yolk and turmeric powder. Maybe their combined efforts, their intense positive energy, and that turmeric really did heal my ankle! Or maybe it was nature taking its natural course and the concoction had nothing to do with it, but either way, something worked.
Turmeric has many natural health benefits one of which is the incredible anti-inflammatory effects. This, and the fact that my ankle really just had a minor sprain, was the reason it worked and the swelling went down over night. Thanks mom!
Homeopathic remedies have been used for centuries and generally are not taken seriously by the medical professionals. More and more prescriptions are being written everyday for issues that we might be able to clear ourselves with the help of our kitchens. Although my ankle was a not serious and didn’t seem dangerous, people all around the world do believe in homeopathy. I have come to a place where I know the difference between a need for the doctors visit and the need for some major positive and homeopathic magic. It’s definitely not for everyone, but it brings me closer to the earth and the bounty of its natural gifts.
So, don’t be afraid to open heal yourself with things in your kitchen, you might surprise yourself in how much power you really do have to make yourself feel better.
