This is not my love letter to Butter. This is, fact.

Butter makes everything better. Everyone knows this.

What’s better than butter you might ask? How about butter with garlic?

This stuff is so good you’ll have to keep yourself from biting into it like an ice cream bar. Compound butter should be at the top of any single persons arsenal. Scratch that, EVERY persons arsenal.

In the biz we call this Compound Butter. Which is basically butter that is flavored and usually rolled into a log.  You can create personalized flavors of this love log and store it in the freezer/refrigerator for when you want to really impress someone, or yourself!  You use this stuff anytime you need a little something special for your meal.  Something that doesn’t necessarily involve fancy cooking techniques or expensive ingredients. Using this stuff really makes you look like a culinary genius, and will certainly impress the pants off anyone, which could or could not be your objective.

Here’s the deal, once you make this compound butter, you’re going to be thinking of different flavor combinations that suit your taste. Savory and sweet butters both.

I like to have one of these butters in the freezer at all times. I also stick with a basic recipe with shallots and herbs that compliment any food, whether it is chicken, fish, vegetables, or beef. All you do is slap on a tab of this butter right as you’re serving your meal. I like to put a couple of tablespoons on a roasted chicken as its resting and let the butter melt slowly from the heat of the chicken. You could do the same thing with a piece of steak too.  Another favorite way of using this butter is by adding a little to some steamed or roasted vegetables. Depending on how much you use of the butter, it’s effortless flavor.
